Manville Rubber Products is properly equipped to take full advantage of all three major production methods used in producing precision molded goods. Each offers unique benefits when properly matched to the product to be produced.

We operate only the most advanced, closed loop, PLC controlled machines available making this production method the fastest, most accurate, most repeatable method for rubber goods production. These advanced molding machines allow such specialized cycles as injection/transfer, injection/compression, preform, vacuum purge and volumetric bump cycles. Use of these specialized cycles can open a narrow processing window and turn a tough production problem into a zero defect winner.
Best suited for:
- Close dimensional tolerances
- High volume production
- Small to medium sized parts
- Low to medium-high durometer materials
- Insert molding
Advantages over other methods:
- Shorter production cycles mean lower unit cost
- Ability to maintain closest dimensional tolerances
- Computer control allows the best repeatability from cycle to cycle and production run to production run
- Specialized cycle availability provides solutions to tricky production problems

In concept, transfer molding is a simplified version of injection molding. It is ideal for intricate parts with lower volume requirements. Though cycle times are generally longer than those found in injection molding, lower hourly machine cost, quick setups and less scrap keep unit costs competitive.
Best suited for:
- Mid range dimensional tolerances
- Low to medium volume production
- Small to medium sized parts
- Low to medium-high durometer materials
- Insert molding
Advantages over other methods:
- Shorter production cycles than compression molding
- Ability to maintain closer dimensional tolerances than compression molding
- Excellent uniformity from mold cavity to mold cavity
- Rapid mold setups
- Couples some of the advantages of injection molding with the simplicity of compression molding

The original production method for molded rubber products upon which all other production methods are based. Ideal for low to medium volumes and large parts. Still a very efficient, low waste, widely used production method suited to a large variety of products.
Best suited for:
- All but the closest dimensional tolerances
- Low to medium production volumes
- Medium to large sized parts
- Low to high durometer materials including very high hardness
- High cost materials
Advantages over other methods:
- Lowest tooling investment
- Shortest mold setup times make a perfect match for short production runs
- Ability to process very stiff, high durometer materials
- Generates less waste than other production methods
